Swimming Allows Me to Be the Best Version of Myself on the Inside and Out!

Today is my 5th ‘getting back in the pool’ anniversary. If you'd asked me 5 years ago whether I was committed enough to swim the distance (excuse the pun!), I might have said “probably not”!

Without exaggeration, swimming has changed my life. It has proven to me that:

  • I can accomplish whatever I set my mind to

  • I have more patience than I realised

  • I can be comfortable in discomfort

  • Things that make me happier are non-negotiable

My swimming goals are no different to training a kitten to use a litter tray, a puppy to sit or a senior dog to recall.

New challenges take courage, a lot of hard work and dedication.

It’s important to keep going and put the effort in as often as you can.

Living with pets can be hard, and sometimes it might feel like you’ve hit a wall.

It’s at times like these that you can feel like you’ve failed in some way, and it’s easy to give up.

Learning to process these feelings, and continue to be positive and committed is an invaluable skill that will improve both yours and your pets’ lives.

Self-discipline is essential in becoming a great pet owner and it takes a lot of practice!

Life with your pets should be lived to be enjoyed, and we should all aim to have fun and be happy in our everyday routines with them.
